Sphynx Technology Solutions (STS)

Sphynx Technology Solutions (STS) offers products and solutions as well as consulting services, in the areas of cyber intelligence, analytics, incident response, assurance, and certification. STS provides customised and continuous security and privacy assessment solutions, covering the full range of socio-technical aspects of a modern enterprise, for internal risk management and/or external security audit and certification. STS solutions are based on our novel security assurance and certification platform and its advanced analytics and cyber intelligence.

In NEMO, STS is responsible for the Cybersecurity & Digital Identity attestation task which allows the implementation of the NEMO platform based on a “by design” cybersecurity approach. STS is leading the analysis of the cybersecurity requirements of the NEMO platform and the identification of the tools and extensions that are needed so as to ensure end-to-end secure, trusted and traceable micro-services execution. The approaches adopted by Linux (i.e. AppArmor, SELinux, Smack) and Mutual TLS will be further analyzed adopted and utilized wherever possible as well as existing and newly developed Digital Identity attestation and ingress control modules.

STS will mainly work on developing efficient Access control policies which are a fundamental aspect of access management systems. Such policies define the rules and conditions that determine how access rights and permissions are granted or denied to users, resources, or functionalities within a system. These policies play a crucial role in maintaining the security, confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive information and resources.

Moreover, STS will develop a novel, yet processing efficient, Identity Management Systems (IMS) that will provide to the overall NEMO platform a centralized framework for managing the lifecycle of digital identities, access privileges, and associated attributes. The developed NEMO IMS will encompass a wide range of capabilities, including identity provisioning, authentication, authorization, and auditing, all of which will contribute to establishing and maintaining a secure and well-managed NEMO identity infrastructure.

NEMO participates on the AIoT Webinar in June

NEMO Project had the chance to be present at AIoT Webinar celebrated this month, on the 7th. The online event presented a slot for Open Call Opportunities in the MetaOS. All projects related had the opportunity to explain their activities and objectives.

Our Technical Manager, Harry Skianis from Synelixis, explained the technical challenges and innovations that the project Next Generation Meta Operating Systems is facing like full stack, fully configurable, cloud-native, data aware meta-OS, but also bringing intelligence closer to data or making AI an integral part of meta-OS.

He also made an overview of the next Open Calls that will be taking place in the following months. There will be two calls, the first one to start in September, 2023. With a budget of 90K, this call for proposals, will select 6 SME’s to participate until December, 2023. The second open call, will be held in June 2024, and it will take place until September of that same year. On that occasion the budget goes up to 150K and will choose up to 10 SME to participate.

During the event other Meta-OS projects had the opportunity to show their
work and share their goals.

NEMO Project explains use case Smart Farming on an online workshop organised by EU_CloudEdgeIoT

This week NEMO Project had the opportunity to attend an online workshop called “Cloud-Edge-IoT Skills Demands For Adoption”. Our Technical Manager, Harry Skianis from Synelixis, was the one in charge of leading Session 2 titled “Smart farming: precision bio-spraying”.

Dr. Skianis was responsible of explaining this use case to the attendees. In particular, precision bio-spraying will be applied by using a combination of micro-clima data collected via Synelixis SynField® IoT nodes and real-time video analysis of olive groves from visual and multi-spectral cameras attached on semi-autonomous drones to identify in real-time where bio-spraying is needed.

The bio-spraying decision will be based on ML models, which will run on the end devices (drones), while increased model performance and increased energy efficiency will be investigated during the training process through Cybersecure Federated Deep Reinforcement Learning (CF-DRL) and flexible deployment of the training jobs across the IoT, edge and cloud resources available.

This proposal will bring many benefits to agriculture such as the protection of olive trees from olive fruit fly through aerial spraying, the optimization of the use of bio-spraying, without compromising organic certification and the efficient and responsible resource utilization within the Smart Farm.

This workshop was part of an event organised by EU_CloudEdgeIoT on May,
18th.
